U.S. EEOC filed a complaint on a Denver area restaurant company.  Managers of an Arvada family-owned restaurant are accused of “simply repulsive” sexual harassment against young female employees, including repeatedly groping a 16-year-old girl who worked for them and making crude jokes and comments.

U.S. Department of Labor Files Complaint Against Popeyes Restaurants

The lawsuit was filed in the eastern district of Louisiana following an investigation by the New Orleans Wage and Hour District Office covering the two-year period from Aug. 29, 2006 to Aug. 28, 2008.

Bureau of Labor and Industries in Oregon has Awards $127,713 in Sex Harassment Case

The bureau said that amid a continuing pattern of harassment that began shortly after Lindsay Gerken was hired by From the Wilderness Inc., formerly based in Ashland, Ruppert came to Gerken’s office door “wearing only his underwear and a smile.”  When Gerken declined Rupert’s explicit invitation to engage in a sexual relationship, the bureau said, she was terminated the following week.

Be Aware of Retaliation Claims Because They can Be Costly the Courts Rule

The prohibition on retaliation is stated in 29 U.S.C. § 215(a)(3), which makes it unlawful to discharge or in any other manner discriminate against any employee because the employee has filed a complaint or instituted or caused to be instituted a proceeding under the FLSA. The majority of circuits have held that this provision protects an employee who makes an internal complaint to the employer.

Abercrombie & Fitch is Under Investigation by The Federal Court For Discrimination

A Tulsa girl’s discrimination complaint against a popular retail chain continues.  She claims Abercrombie and Fitch discriminated against her because she’s Muslim.  Now, the retail chain is being sued in federal court.

Allstate Settles Alleged Discrimination Lawsuit for $4.5 Million

EEOC Sues Starbucks Alleging Disability Discrimination in Arkansas

The U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission filed a lawsuit last week against Starbucks, claiming the chain discriminated against a job applicant because he has multiple sclerosis. Starbucks said it has not received the complaint.

Lowe’s, Taco Bell Settle Sexual Harassment Lawsuits

Employers Be Aware – Age Bias Charges Surge As Firms Shed Workers
