That’s why Rep. Claire Levy, D-Boulder, introduced a measure into the Colorado Legislature this session that would implement a new provision in discrimination cases tried in state courts that could leave small businesses liable for compensatory and punitive damages should they lose.

Charges of Sexual, Religious Discrimination Filed Against Google

One of the nations largest corporation is facing charges of discrimination.  In his court filing, Bara, a practicing Wiccan, claims that a manager in Google’s Atlanta office, Pam Sohn, made numerous jokes about the sexual orientation of a female transgendered employee who joined the company in July 2008.

Sexual Harassment And Pregnancy Discrimination Filed Against California Kitchen

Sexual Harassment and Pregnancy Discrimination Filed against CK.  The lawsuit names California Pizza Kitchen Supervisor Andy Lee (Palo Alto restaurant) as the individual who engaged in sexually abusive and harassing behavior. The complaint states that Lee had informed the plaintiff that he had prior sexual harassment complaints filed against him.

Employers Should Become Aware of Constructive Discharge In the Workplace

There are a lot of workplace rules that employers must be aware.  A constructive discharge occurs when an employee’s working conditions become so intolerable because of harassment that no reasonable person could continue working for the employer. ANOTHER CHARGE OF SEXUAL AND NATIONAL ORIGIN HARASSMENT BROUGHT BY THE EEOC

The food industry has to be extremely careful about its relationship with their staffs.  The EEOC charges in its suit against Knouse Foods Cooperative, Inc. that a class of female farmworkers was subjected to a sexually hostile work environment by male coworkers at its processing plant in Gardners, Pa. The perpetrators allegedly engaged in unrelenting sexual harassment, including: making sexual advances to female employees; asking them to expose their breasts; asking them on dates; and making vulgar sexual comments. The male coworkers also engaged in threatening behavior, such as using the forklift to chase women or blocking them with their bodies or a broom while they walked down the hall.
